Yin Yoga for the Winter Season

In ancient Chinese Medicine, winter is associated with the element of water, governed by the kidney and bladder meridians. The kidney meridian is thought to house our Jing or essential life force. The kidney/bladder meridian pair needs to be in balance for all other organs to achieve balance. The emotions associated with the kidney/bladder meridian pair are fear, anxiety, and willpower.

Here is a yin yoga sequence that will help stimulate your kidney and bladder meridians, promoting balance and energy flow. If short on time, you can skip the intro and start directly with butterfly pose (#3). Avoid advanced variations if you're new to a yoga routine or just getting back into one.
